Competition

In August 2002 the stadtkunstprojekte e.V. invited 29 international artists, architects and engineers to a three day colloquium at the Rote Rathhaus (city hall) in Berlin. On the first day the participants introduced their working practice and artistic projects as brief presentations. The second day was reserved for a boat trip along the Spree and intensive site visits. In these two days all participants had the opportunity to get to know each other in order to form teams and to select a bridge site for their proposal. On the last day of the colloquium the composition of the teams was established.

On the basis of the tender documents 12 proposals were generated. They were presented to the public in October 2003 at the Aedes East Extension Pavillon. A catalogue accompanying the exhibition has been produced by the publisher Silke Schreiber (ISBN 3-88960-067-0).
