Initialized by Heike C. Mertens and Jörg Leutloff, the stadtkunstprojekte e.V. (City Art Project Society), was founded in March 2001. The stadtkunstprojekte e.V. biannually organises a cultural event involving interdisciplinary art projects in the Berlin area, with the intention of encouraging international dialogue on many aspects of city life. In his position of executive chairman, Bernd Heuer enjoys the support of a capable team consisting of Kristin Feireiss, Siegfried Scheffler, Rainer Blankenurg and Lothar Geisenheyner.
Curator of the City Art Project 2002 is Heike C. Mertens. Patron of the project is the Minister for traffic, building and housing, Kurt Bodewig.
